Control Systems Society (CSS) Chapter
The Control Systems Society Chapter is a newly-formed chapter of IEEE Switzerland Section.
Welcome to the webpage of the Swiss Chapter of the IEEE Control Systems Society
The goal of the Chapter is to establish a common umbrella, under the banner of the IEEE Switzerland Section, for promoting advancements in the area of systems and control, strengthening links between industry and academia, and fostering the exchange of ideas between students interested in automation.
To this purpose, the Chapter organizes lectures by renowned experts, co-sponsor PhD schools and initiatives for continuing education, and co-sponsor relevant conferences and workshops in automatic control that take place in Switzerland.
The Chapter also aims at providing a channel for advertising initiatives of the IEEE Control Systems Society at large.
Winner of the IEEE CSS Swiss Chapter Young Author Best Journal Paper Award 2022
The Award, established in 2022, recognizes outstanding achievement in research in systems and control by a young researcher. The main eligibility conditions are that:
- the candidate must be a member of IEEE-CSS Swiss Chapter;
- the candidate must be 35 years old or younger;
the candidate must be one of the authors of the nominated paper, published in the past two calendar years on the following society journals: IEEE Control Systems Magazine; IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control; IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology; IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems; IEEE Control Systems Letters.
For the 2022 edition, the Award Committee, chaired by Melanie Zeilinger, assigned the prize to
for the work
Jeremy Coulson, John Lygeros, and Florian Dörfler, “Distributionally Robust Chance Constrained Data-enabled Predictive Control,” IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, pp. 1–1, 2021, doi: 10.1109/TAC.2021.3097706.
with the following motivation: «The paper makes a fundamental contribution to the theory of data-driven predictive control by extending previous results in particular to address uncertainties through a distributionally robust formulation, while providing an exceptionally clear presentation of the results. »
The Award ceremony took place on Wednesday 22/06/2022 at 20h00 during the retreat of the NCCR Automation at the hotel Caux Palace, Villa Maria, 123 route de Caux, 1824 Caux.
Sponsorship of the IEEE Swiss Section, which funded the award, is gratefully acknowledged.
