The IEEE Swiss CAS 75th Anniversary Workshop successfully concluded on 29.11.2024. It saw an attendance over 70, with participation from different institutions and industry in Switzerland.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the CAS, the Swiss joint CAS and ED chapter organized a workshop at the Institute of Neuroinformatics in the University of Zürich. The workshop was unique through the diversity of speakers it showcased. From Quantum electronics to biomedical circuits, the ED and CAS chapters were broadly represented. The research institutions in Switzerland were also represented in their diversity: industry (IBM Research), research institutes (EMPA), university of applied sciences (FNHW), Federal Institutes of Technology (ETH, EPFL) and academia (UZH, SUPSI, FNHW).

18 posters and demos were presented during 1 minute lighting talks preceding a one-hour poster/demo session. The participants were able to vote for their preferred contribution, and awards and certificates were provided to the students at the end of the workshop.

The elections for the new chair and secretary of the Swiss IEEE joint CAS/ED chapter were held with voting from the IEEE member attendees, forwarding the roles of Shih-Chii Liu and Tobi Delbrück to Laura Bégon-Lours (Chair) and Mathieu Coustans (Secretary).

The workshop was also the opportunity for ETH, Integrated Systems Laboratory to present the “SwissChips” initiative, involving industrial and academic partners in Switzerland. Finally, the local IEEE Student Branch of ETH Zürich could present the activity of the chapter and advertise on the open board member volunteer positions.
